Methodology
How Kurmei works
Source, provenance and uncertainty are first-class parts of the database.
Sources
Each important claim should be linked to a source record. Source records can include books, papers, archives, institutional publications, maps and other research materials, with author, publication, date, rights and page or section information where available.
Uncertainty
- Dates may be exact, approximate, ranges, centuries, eras or unknown.
- Locations may be exact, approximate, regional, route-based or unknown.
- Relationships carry evidence and confidence rather than being treated as automatically true.
Conflicting evidence
When credible sources disagree, Kurmei should preserve the disagreement and provenance for review instead of silently overwriting an existing record.
AI research agent
The agent proposes structured records from documents supplied for lawful processing. It must not invent unsupported facts, convert uncertainty into certainty, claim causality without evidence, or publish directly.
